We have a Christmas tree in our house presently. In fact, I just put it up this weekend.
Yes. But. Shelter pets can’t wait for December to think about being merry.
Because on Nov. 3, I’ll be donating a tree to Forever Paws Animal Shelter’s holiday fundraiser — which means I need to have it decorated before then.
And that’s just ONE of the art events you’ll find me at in the coming months!
➽ Oct. 26: An Unlikely Craft Fair
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHAT: My art will be among a variety of handmade gifts and goods from local artisans at THE cutest little bookstore north of Providence! (seriously this place is adorable — they even have a cafe! #happycoffeeaddict) (Fun fact: It was founded by the author of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, in his hometown.)
➽ Nov. 3: Festival of Trees
WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 3, noon to 5 p.m.
WHAT: Nearly 100 themed, fully decorated trees (including mine!) will be up for grabs; attendees purchase tickets and place their tickets in a bag in front of the tree they hope to win. Proceeds benefit the shelter (where we adopted two of our five cats from). I’ll give you three guesses what the theme of my tree is gonna be… *coughcatscough*
➽ Dec. 7-8: Durfee Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Sunday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHAT: This show has been going on for 43 years. Safe to say it’s a longstanding SouthCoast tradition, with TONS of vendors and THOUSANDS of attendees. The event’s organizer found me at another art event I did in the spring, and invited me to join. I’m so excited!
➽ Dec. 5-15: Mad Dog Holiday Sale
WHEN: Thursday, Dec. 5 – Sunday, Dec. 15
WHAT: I’d been at this cool studio show last year, and was invited back! (yay) Even though I won’t be there in person most of the time (sad face), my art will be on display for both entire weekends — alongside that of 49 other local artists.
